Well, it’s been a couple months since Sam started working 2 hours from home. It’s been a whirlwind of texting, daily phone calls, FaceTiming and bi-monthly dinner dates. I will admit it has been difficult. I think I underestimated how much work I would be doing on top of my full-time job. Having another person there to watch the kids while I shower long enough to shave my legs is a luxury I didn’t realize I would be longing for during the week. Single moms, you are some superheroes! I don’t know how you do it with no one else for help everyday.

My parents, siblings, and best friend have been INCREDIBLE supports. It truly takes a village and I am so lucky to have the one I have. Sam comes home every Saturday after work and that is a high I chase every week.

While I write lists on lists on lists, I still fall behind in some of the things I created a list for like cleaning and laundry. It’s very difficult to fold laundry while holding a child. I swear I am going to get carpal tunnel from folding the tiny clothes my little people wear.

Today, however, I found the motivation I needed to clean my house. I cleaned the entire first floor (which includes my living room {or the playroom lol}, dining room, entry & hallway, downstairs bathroom, laundry room, and kitchen which has a walk in pantry that was put in last year) and get on top of my laundry. Want to know my secret? Watch an episode of Hoarders! Something about having that playing while I tackle my to do list makes my slightly cluttered house seem not as daunting. I started at 9:30am, took a break to play with Sophia, nursed Remi whenever he wanted, and doom scrolled on TikTok for a bit while Sophia took a nap. I finished at about 1:30pm when Sophia woke up from her nap.

We went to the grocery to stock up on a few essentials and it was so nice to come back to a completely clean house and it took about 2 minutes to put everything away and I could enjoy playing with the kids before Sam got home from work. I won’t lie, taking two small children to the store alone is a feat. Remi is now sitting up all on his own so I can put him in the cart which frees up the rest of the cart for goodies.

This is definitely me leaning into my TradWife (traditional wife) role that I feel like I am training for. If I had made a loaf or two of sourdough bread I would have really done the dang thing. Instead, I spent $8 on eggs! I can’t wait to get chickens.

If you see me looking disheveled and maybe acting like I have a screw loose, I do. Clare (my bestie {Hey dude}), and I bluetooth brain cells all day long. Sam has my loose screw in his tool bag and only returns it on Saturdays. Give me a Dr. Pepper and I will be okay I promise.
